IN FOCUS WOMEN IN PROFILE - Melinda Pryor

IN FOCUS WOMEN IN PROFILE - MELINDA PRYOR, AUSTRALIA

What sparked your interest in photography?

I purchased my first and only camera to date about 8 years ago mainly for kids sports and family outings.  It wasn’t until last year I wanted to learn how to use it to it’s full potential to capture some amazing shots on our trip to Japan for the Rugby World Cup.  Little did I know a new found passion was to follow.

How long have you been shooting for?

I have only been shooting for just over a year now and I get so excited thinking about my photography journey ahead as there is so much to learn.

What is your favourite type of photography?

My favourite photography by far is landscape photography.  There is nothing better than being in a location (preferably by myself) out in nature early in the morning watching the scenery unravel itself.  It’s like a box of chocolates, you never know what your going to get.

What is in your camera bag?

I have bought minimal gear for my old camera as I’m about to upgrade.  My bag holds a Canon60D, Tokina 11-16mm f2.8, Canon 18-200mm f3.5, Canon 55-250mm f4 and a  nifty fifty f1.8 lens.  I have the NisiV6 filter system with CPL, ND’s & Reverse Nano IR Grad ND filters, a DJI Mavic Mini and I carry a Sirui W2204 tripod.

What would your dream kit be?

My dream kit is anything other than what I currently have haha.  Of course I would love the best of the best but I don’t believe you need it to produce beautiful images.  A full frame that handles high dynamic range and low light scene’s is good enough for me.

What software do you use to process your images?

Majority of my editing is done in Lightroom with a little in Photoshop.  I also dabble in Luminar4.

Who are you top 3 photography inspirations?

I am inspired by so many talented photographers, some who have been featured on this forum like Rach Stewart.  My top 3 current inspirations would have to be Cath Simard, Michael Shainblum and Max Rive.

What are you top 3 bucket list locations you want to shoot?

My top 3 bucket list would be Iceland, Peru and go back to Switzerland.  However this could change as there is soo much to see in the world.
