ELLE CHEN - MELBOURNE, AUSTRALIA
What sparked your interest in photography?
I studied landscape architecture before embarking on a career of law. I’ve never really given up on my creative side and photography is the perfect medium for me to capture the moment and it is a good balance to my often busy day job. My personal motto is that my art (including photography) represents my heart and my work in law (very analytical and logical) represents my mind.
How long have you been shooting for?
My first DSLR I purchased was in 2015. I’ve been shooting for about 5 years.
What is your favourite type of photography?
Anything in landscape or nature. I’m also interested in portrait photography.
What is in your camera bag?
My Nikon D750, a prime Nikkor lens 20mm and telephoto Nikkor 70-210mm (which is an antique lens). 90% of my photos are captured using the 20mm prime lens.
What would your dream kit be?
I’m very happy with my current kit because it’s so lightweight and easy to travel with. In the future, I would love the D850 with a prime Zeiss lens.
What software do you use to process your images?
Lightroom and photoshop for touch ups.
Who are your top 3 photography inspirations?
Mieke Boynton - not just about her stunning photography but also her profound philosophy about imagery.
Steph Vella - love the vibrant and the play on colour in her photos, there’s a warmth to them which I’m particularly fond of
Chrystal Hutchinson - such dedication to photography and really shows through in her photography, also a fellow plant lover.
